Are There Grade A Wooden Fire-Rated Doors?

A wooden fire-rated door refers to a door whose door frame, door leaf frame and door leaf panels are manufactured from timber or timber products, and meets specified fire resistance limits. It is one of the standard fire separation installations in buildings, commonly installed on firewalls, stairwell entrances and openings of duct shafts.
As we all know, fire-rated doors are divided into different grades with distinct fire endurance durations. So the question arises: Are there Grade A wooden fire-rated doors?

Are There Grade A Wooden Fire-Rated Doors?

The answer is yes. Wooden fire-rated doors are generally categorized into Grade A, Grade B and Grade C.

1. Grade A Wooden Fire-Rated Doors

Grade A wooden fire-rated doors have a minimum fire endurance of 1.5 hours, which is the core criterion to qualify as Grade A. Their interior filling material is mostly perlite; a small portion adopts vermiculite fireproof boards, foamed door core boards, MC composite materials and other fire-resistant fillers. The standard thickness of Grade A wooden fire-rated doors is 50 mm.

2. Grade B Wooden Fire-Rated Doors

Grade B wooden fire-rated doors feature a fire endurance of no less than 1.0 hour. All hardware fittings equipped on such doors must be fire-rated hardware. This grade is widely used as entrance doors for residential decoration.

3. Grade C Wooden Fire-Rated Doors

Grade C wooden fire-rated doors deliver a fire endurance of at least 0.5 hours. All fittings fitted on Grade C fire-rated doors shall undergo fire retardant treatment to satisfy the specified fire resistance limit.
